Today, I traveled to 1 Police Plaza downtown to get fingerprinted by the police. This is the first step towards obtaining an FBI criminal record search . The police headquarters are very close to City Hall and were quite easy to find.
However, having completed my journey without a hitch, it did not come entirely as a suprise when bad luck struck. The offices were exceptionally (and perhaps inexplicably) closed due to the return of US soldiers from Iraq - or so I was informed by the big, burly police officer guarding the headquarters. Being small, I decided this was sufficient answer. I will be returning later to be fingerprinted.
